Background

Intersectional Green Futures: Advancing Climate Justice for All Project aims to advance climate justice and empower marginalized groups, particularly women and youth, in the Dang, Salyan, and Kapilvastu districts of Nepal which is in the support of IM Swedish Development Partner. Through research, capacity building, and advocacy, it mobilizes communities to engage in climate governance, promotes circular economy practices to reduce waste, and enhances the capacity of civil society organizations for climate advocacy. Targeting marginalized communities like Dalits and Muslims, it engages duty-bearers at provincial and local levels to ensure accountability. Aligned with CLEAN UP NEPAL's thematic areas, the project integrates climate action with social equity and emphasizes gender equality and social inclusion. By fostering youth involvement and addressing the intersectionality of climate justice and human rights, it contributes to a more inclusive and resilient society, enriching environmental conservation efforts with a focus on social well-being and equality. 

The implementing districts and local levels are:

Local level number 3: Ghorahi Sub Metropolitan of Dang district; Kapurkot Rural Municipality of Salyan district; and Kapilvastu Municipality of Kapilvastu district.

Objectives:

• The objective of this situational analysis to identification and analyze the vulnerabilities of communities affected by climate justice issues to gather essential information for advocating effectively on behalf of climate justice.

Consultant Service: Consultant (Consultant for situation analysis entails identifying climate justice issues)

Deliverables:

• Identify and profile communities in Dang, Salyan, and Kapilvastu that are particularly susceptible to climate change impacts due to environmental issues like air pollution from nearby industries, road construction, open burning, unplanned drainage systems, deforestation, and irregular waste collection.
• Need policy and program analysis of the different government to find out the trend so that the study can suggest how the local government can addresss the issues and collaborate with each other 
• Evaluate the specific environmental issues affecting these communities and their direct and indirect impacts on health, livelihoods, and overall well-being.
• Coordinate with local governments, policymakers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to gather input and insights. And to analyze the existing programs with the local governments to support the vulnerable communities.
• Develop a plan of action for immediate, short-term solutions to mitigate the identified issues.
• Propose long-term policy changes and strategic initiatives to support sustainable adaptation and mitigation efforts.
• Identify and mobilize resources required for implementing both short-term and long-term solutions with suggestion/ guide to the local government.
